International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and European Norm (EN) standards for anodic coatings. ISO 7599 is the general specifying standard for anodic oxidation coatings; EN 12373 covers anodic oxidation in the European market.

The international general-specifying standard for anodic oxidation coatings on aluminium and its alloys. Defines quality grades AA5, AA10, AA15, AA20, AA25 by minimum coating thickness in micrometres (e.g. AA25 = 25 μm minimum). Specifies sealing requirements, abrasion resistance, light-fastness for dyed coatings, and recommended test methods (cross-references ISO 2360 for thickness, ISO 2143 for sealing). The reference standard most-cited internationally outside the US (where MIL-A-8625 dominates) and India (where IS 1868 dominates).
The reference dye-stain seal-quality test for sealed anodic coatings. A dye solution is applied to a prepared coating surface after acid pre-treatment; the resulting stain intensity correlates with sealing quality (well-sealed coatings reject the dye and show minimal stain; poorly sealed coatings absorb dye into the porous structure and stain visibly). Reported on a 0-5 scale. Used internationally alongside the admittance test (ASTM B457) for sealed anodize QC.
ISO test method for eddy-current thickness measurement of non-conductive coatings (anodize) on non-magnetic conductive substrates (aluminium). Equivalent in scope to ASTM B244. Specifies calibration procedure, probe positioning, minimum measurement area, and reporting. Referenced internationally for anodize thickness QC outside the US.
European Norm covering anodizing of aluminium and aluminium alloys, published in multiple parts covering general specifications, sulphuric acid anodizing, hard anodizing, chromic acid anodizing, decorative anodizing, and various test methods. Used widely in the European architectural and industrial aluminium supply chain. Substantial alignment with ISO 7599 family but with some EU-specific provisions for QUALANOD certification.
