Hard anodizing for automotive is the work that gets done badly more often than it gets done right. Coating thickness has to land between specific limits. Bath temperature has to stay below 5°C without crashing energy efficiency. Rectifier ripple has to stay clean. Sealing has to be tuned for the specific corrosion environment the part will see. And the spec book — usually an OEM specification cascaded down two or three supply-chain layers — has to be translated into something a plant SOP can actually deliver against.
