## Abstract

Highly-cited Proceedings of the Royal Society A paper that established the quantitative geometric relationships between anodizing voltage and porous oxide structure parameters (pore diameter, cell diameter, barrier layer thickness, wall thickness). The empirical correlations from this paper underlie modern models of anodize film structure and remain the reference for predicting self-ordered nanoporous alumina geometry from processing conditions.
